 Civic polls: Cachar BJP, Congress release list of probable candidates

SILCHAR, July 9: After a number of meetings organized by Cachar Congress leaders for listing candidates in the final list for the ensuing municipal elections in Silchar, the ball was finally pushed on the court of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee for the final selection.Sources said, two State leaders––YL Karna and Dilip Bora––left for Guwahati this morning with the names of prospective candidates’ from Silchar. But the final list of candidates would be finalized by the Congress only after receiving the green signal from APCC in a press meet, our sources said. The press meet would be attended by Santosh Mohan Dev, Dinesh Prashad Goala, Misbahul Islam Laskar, Karnendu Bhattacharjee and so on.APCC spokesperson Pradip Dutta Roy said that the final list of the candidates would be published today. However, a probable list of candidates from Congress sources was released today.In another development, Cachar BJP in a meeting held today, decided the fate of prospective candidates for the ensuing Municipal Elections in Silchar. 'Samban-Lei Sekpil' the tallest Topiary in the World

Green and awesomely tall, a shrub growing 61 feet (18.59 m.), it is amazing. When Moirangthem Okendra Kumbi of Manipur returned home after getting his degree of B.Sc. Agri. (Hons.) from Meerut University, in 1983, he found a small plant on a mustard oil tin planted by his sister. The plant was a kind of shrub Manipuris use to grow as fencing to their gardens, so they called it Samban-Lei (Samban means fencing and Lei means flower), its Hindi name is Nilakantha (Sky flower) and Botanical Name is Duranta repens Linn. >> Full Story
